The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) released today the microfilm “Property Management – Good Job!” which introduces the property management (PM) profession, the PM industry licensing regime and the PMSA Specified Course for the industry in order to promote the work of PM and encourage people from different sectors (especially the younger generation) to pursue a career in the industry.
The microfilm “Property Management – Good Job!” is approximately 5 minutes long. Its light-hearted storyline centers on the everyday work life of a young PM practitioner “Horace” who possesses academic and professional qualifications. The microfilm shows how he bridges theory and practice when he carries out his PM duties, and how he adopts new technology to overcome day-to-day work challenges as well as handle emergency situations at work, reflecting that PM is not a trivial subject, but a professional and challenging work indeed. The microfilm reaches its climax when Horace finds himself competing with a seasoned industry veteran “Lung” for a promotion opportunity, and “Lung” is studying the PMSA Specified Course to prepare for his PM practitioner licence application. How “Horace” will edge out and how “Lung” will vie for the challenge? It is a fascinating story with a tight duel of qualification versus experience.
In addition to “Horace” and “Lung”, the PMSA Chairperson Mr. Tony TSE is also featured in the microfilm. He timely mediates the dispute between “Horace” and “Lung” and promotes the promising prospect and development opportunities that the PM industry, which require and can accommodate a lot of talents, can offer.
The PMSA Chairperson Mr. Tony TSE said, “With the release of this microfilm, we hope more people will have a better understanding about the diversity of PM (covering different aspects including environment and facility management, maintenance, human resources, finance, law, etc.). The PM work is suitable for individuals with different backgrounds, and academic qualification as well as experience are both important for the work. With the implementation of the PM industry licensing regime, both the professional status of the industry as well as the professional standard of PM practitioners are enhanced, strengthening the industry’s development in professionalism and quality.”
Chairperson TSE further added, “No matter you are fresh graduates or talents contemplating a career change into the PM field, as long as you are able to demonstrate a diversity in skills, accumulate experience and work with passion, you will certainly become “Horace” or “Lung” as in the microfilm one day and shine at work in the PM field.”
In addition to Chairperson TSE, Dr. Johnnie CHAN, immediate past president of the Hong Kong Assoication of Property Management Companies (HKAPMC), is also featured in the microfilm. He has a dialogue with “Horace” and “Lung”, urging young people to make good use of the industry’s recruitment scheme and seize the opportunity to timely pursue a career in the PM field.
The microfilm “Property Management – Good Job!” has been uploaded onto the PMSA website (https://www.pmsa.org.hk/en/promotional-materials-en/micro_film_2021/). Members of the public are welcome to watch the microfilm online.
The PMSA expresses its gratitude to the HKAPMC, the MTR Corporation Limited and ELEMENTS shopping mall for their assistance in the microfilm production.
