The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) announced today that, as of 4 August 2020, over HK$540 million of subsidies had been granted under the “Anti-epidemic Support Scheme for Property Management Sector” (ASPM) (including Phase I (for private residential and commercial cum residential buildings), Phase II (for private industrial and commercial buildings), and the “Enhanced ASPM” (whereby the subsidy period was extended and the cap on headcounts of the subsidy per eligible building block was relaxed), benefiting over 38,000 building blocks and more than 100,000 frontline property management (PM) workers. The PMSA is commissioned by the Home Affairs Department to implement the ASPM.
Mr Tony TSE, the PMSA Chairperson said, “The application period for the ASPM ended in mid-July. Since its launch in early March, nearly 13,000 applications plus over 11,500 enhanced applications (applications made in respect of the properties covered in Phases I and II under the Enhanced ASPM) have been received. Timely financial support has been provided to more than 100,000 frontline PM workers. Currently there are around 9,000 applications still to be processed. The PMSA has stepped up the vetting work so as to benefit the frontline workers early.”
While the processing of the applications continues, the PMSA has started the follow-up work including the conduct of random review so as to ensure that the subsidies granted are disbursed to frontline PM workers properly.
Applicants with subsidies granted are reminded to complete the PMSA’s specified report as soon as possible and to keep record about the recipients of the subsidies. The reports are required to be submitted to the PMSA for review and audit purposes, and to be kept by the applicants for at least 12 months.
Applicants who knowingly or willfully make any false statement or withhold any information or mislead the PMSA for the purpose of obtaining payment under the ASPM, or otherwise dishonestly obtain any pecuniary advantage by deception, if found upon investigation, will be liable for prosecution.
